Friday November 20th, 2009 - New Book on Real Estate Photography

Quality photographs of a home or building that is for sale can make all the difference to a buyer.  If the photos do not focus on the prime assets of the home or building, a buyer can be turned off immediately and may not be interested in seeing the property to any further extent.

If the initial images of the property focus on aspects that the individual buyer is not interested in, especially photos of furniture and appliances, they can prevent the buyer from seeing the property’s true potential.

Recently, a school teacher in Cambridge, Ont., who is currently on the search for a seventh investment property, has published a new book about the art of real estate photography.  She used her passion for real estate and photography in conjunction with her expertise of the topic to create a how-to guide for investors and realtors about the do’s and don’ts for capturing appealing photos.  She explains that with such high-quality media, buyers seem to have higher expectations for pictures of potential properties.

She also touched on the fact that a common mistake among real estate photography has to do with lack of sufficient lighting.  Sometimes sellers want to focus on the details of the interior and the new appliances, but many times, pictures of these things are not what entices buyers.
